Philippa Bramwell-Jones is a registered dietitian, nutrition consultant and functional medicine health coach and has been practicing in the field of Nutrition and Health since 2002.
She graduated from UKZN, Pietermaritzburg with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 1999, followed by a Bachelor of Science Medical (Honours) degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2001 from UCT. She received a port-graduate diploma in Counselling Skills from Middlesex University (UK) in 2008 and Behaviour Change from Leeds University (UK) in 2008. In 2018 she became certified as a Functional Medicine Health Coach through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio (USA).
After graduating in 2001, Philippa practiced as a dietitian in the UK for 10 years. She specialised in Bariatric Surgery while working at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. It was here she developed a keen interest in motivational interviewing, behaviour change and intuitive eating.
After returning to South Africa in 2013, Philippa started an organic vegetable gardening business which she ran alongside her dietetic practice until 2017. Since then, she has focussed herself completely into private practice, nutrition counselling and health coaching.
Her main areas of interest include the gut, fatigue and adrenal dysfunction, resistant weight, energy balance and mood disorders (depression and anxiety). She is involved in the nutritional management of diabetes and insulin resistance, allergies and food intolerances and lipid metabolism and cardiac health. She has found in practice that Intuitive Eating and developing a healthy relationship with food is a better predictor of success than the authoritarian approach of old.
Philippa is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), the Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).
